Laptop stands: fixed, folding, or height-adjustable?

The right stand depends on whether your laptop is a second screen, your only computer, or a travel companion.

Raising a laptop display can reduce the amount you look downward, but a high stand usually requires an external keyboard and mouse. That extra footprint should be part of the decision.

What to look for

• Check device weight and stand dimensions, not only the advertised screen size.
• Choose a broad, stable base for permanent desks and a folding design for travel.
• Make sure vents remain open and rubber contact points do not cover them.

Use before features

If you type directly on the laptop for long sessions, a steeply raised stand is rarely practical. A modest angle may be better. For a docked setup, prioritize display height and stability.
