A practical desk-lamp guide for work and video calls
One flexible light can improve reading comfort and make calls look more natural.

A useful desk lamp should illuminate paperwork without reflecting in your screen. For video calls, it can also soften facial shadows when placed slightly above eye level and off to one side.
What to look for
- Look for a movable arm or head so light can be aimed away from the monitor.
- Choose multiple brightness levels rather than relying on a single intense setting.
- Confirm the base fits your desk, or consider a clamp when surface space is limited.
Use before features
Very cool light can feel harsh late in the day. Adjustable color temperature is helpful, but positioning has the largest effect: keep the source outside the direct line between your eyes and display.
Use the criteria above while you compare. Prices and availability can change.
